COLOUR YOUR WORLD WITH A NEW COLLAR

ree

I love collars. They can embellish all kind of clothes and they are often easily made-at least if you try this nice and easy version.

It is very easy to sew a ruffle collar with a bow. You can renew many garments with a new collar. Cool collars brightens up any old boring garment.

All you need is a small piece of leftover fabric and a silk ribbon.

My collar consists of a piece of fabric that is 140 cm (55 inches) long and 20 cm (7,9 inches) wide. You need about 1 meter (39 inches) of silk ribbon. Try it out, it depends on how long you prefer your ribbon to be.

Fold the collar in half and then sew it together with the right sides together. You have to leave it open about 15 cm (6 inches) in the middle to be able to turn it right. You must also leave open about 2.5 cm (1 inch) in each side of the upper edges to thread the ribbon. If you want to, you can make rounded edges in the front.

Turn the collar to the right side and stitch the opening with a narrow seam. Sew a channel about 2.5 cm wide at the top, thread a silk ribbon through the channel and your collar is ready!

Why don´t you make several collars to adorn any garment? Cool collars really embellish you and your clothes!
