FROM HOODIE TO VEST

Today I I found something interesting in the huge pile of discarded and outgrown clothes that are in my closet. It was an old hoodie that my youngest son, Marcel, used four years ago when he was eleven.

One of the sleeves of the hoodie was only half because I had cut it at another time when I made a sweater with gray squares.

Marcel was so cute when he was little and wore that gray tiger hoodie. Here he has just picked up his aunt Annika at the train station.

I wanted to turn the hoodie into a vest, so I first cut off the sleeves, but I left 2 cm as a seam allowance.

Then I marked 5 cm up from the neck with a chalk and cut off the rest of the hood.

After that I overlocked the cut edges. If you do not have an overlock, it is just as easy to sew zig-zag.

Fold down the cut edges as much as you like. Between 0-3 cm is okay. The collar I made is 2 cm high.

I folded the sleeves exactly where the sleeves had been sewn on before, so that only a thin edge is shown.

It is clearly best to sew with a twin needle.

Here we have the finished vest. It is not at all difficult to sew, it goes fast and is fun.

See you soon and enjoy your time with the sewing machine!
