I REFUSE TO SUBMIT! These words belongs to Tora Vega Holmström, the muse and inspiration to the new (and first!) collection at TrashionPattern.
Tora Vega Holmström was a swedish artist who lived 1880-1967. Her motto"I refeuse to submit" permeated all her life. She wanted to be a free person, she didn´t want to get married, she wanted to be her own boss. Not many women dared to take that decision in those days. I guess it made her a bit lonely but she wanted to stay a free spirit all her life. I think you can se that in her self portrait; I am my own boss! Don´t mess with me!
Tora vega was born 140 years ago but she feels very modern, don´t you think so too?
I made this moodboard as a hommage to Tora Vega. Tora Vega had the taste for life and adventure. She once wrote "I long to everywhere in the world". She followed her dreams and traveled the world. I guess she was a bit restless.
In the right corner you can see her passport photo. When you look att the passport photo and the self portraits, do you also get the feeling that Tora Vega stares at you? I almost feel it like her eyes stares right into me....

Do you wonder how I learn to know the art of Tora Vega? It was actually because of bobbin lace. But that´s a long story and I will tell it to you another time...
